Political Bilateral Relations
Political relation between the two countries has a long history, in 1930 the embassy of Hungary has been opened in Tehran but its Ambassador came to Iran in 1964. On the other side, Iran has opened its Embassy in Hungary in August 1969 and the first Iran’s Ambassador entered Budapest.
After the revolution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, bilateral cooperation has been expanded and high ranking delegations visited the other country.
The visit of H.E. Mr. Victor Orban to the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2015 was as a turning point for bilateral relations. During this visit, 10 MOUs have been signed between Iranian and Hungarian authorities in the fields of economic, political, cultural, scientific and tourism. Besides, the two countries have agreed to grant 100 scholarships to their interested students in higher education institutions.
After this event, exchange of delegation in political sphere has been expanded and authorities of two foreign ministries visited capitals.
